Wedding Planning Timeline Part II: Confirming Details

If you read our last blog, you’ll know that we have embarked on offering a one-year wedding planning timeline. The first part of the blog covered important planning steps that need to be completed in the first few months like finalizing the guest list, booking a venue, and reserving your wedding rentals. Today, we are going to cover the rest of the timeline of what else should happen in the 8 months leading up to your big day.

6-8 Months Before The Wedding

Order Your Dress

If you or your partner will be wearing a wedding dress, make sure you order it with at least six months out. This will allow time to make any necessary adjustments.

Hire A Photographer

Most couples want a professional photographer to document their wedding. However, the best ones book up fast, so make sure to hire yours with plenty of time left!

Choose Bridal Party Dresses And Attire

Make sure you let your bridal party know what they’ll be wearing and if they need to order it themselves or if you’ll be getting it for them.

4-6 Months Before

Order Wedding Invites

Around this time, be sure to order your wedding invites. You’ll need to send them out in the next couple of months!

Hire A Hair And Makeup Artist

If you’re not going to do your own hair and makeup, make sure to hire one around this time and do trial runs.

Reserve Any Wedding Rentals You Haven’t Yet

Maybe you were not sure up until this point about what your wedding colors would be. Now is the time to solidify those details and rent tablecloths, napkins, and other linens.

Plan Your Honeymoon

If you and your partner will be going on a honeymoon, start planning that now. This includes making sure everyone’s passport is up to date if you will be leaving the country.

2-4 Months Before

Mail Out Invitations

Now it’s time to mail out the official invitations! It’s important to give people who may have lost their save the dates enough time to decide whether or not they can come.

Finalize Catering Details

Around this time, make sure you have chosen your caterer and discuss any final details. Make sure you have a rough estimate of how many people will be there and if you’ll need to accommodate for any dietary restrictions.

Schedule A Rehearsal Dinner

Even though the wedding is still a few months away, you will want to make sure you have the date, time, and place of your rehearsal dinner set in stone.

One Week-2 Months Before

Get The Decor Ready

Whether you are DIY-ing your decor or hiring a professional, make sure all decorations are ready to go.

Determine A Seating Plan

If you are having a seating chart, make sure to plan this out once you know who is going to be there.

Check In On All Vendors

From your caterer to your wedding rental company, get in touch with them and double (or triple) check that they all know where to be, when to be there, and what to bring.
