Do You Have The Event Rentals You Need To Handle The Weather?

In Fredericksburg, May is the third rainiest month of the year, with an average of 4.1” falling during the month. June and July are also rain heavy months, with July being the rainiest at 4.5” on average. And while May might be ranked third in terms of inches, it comes in a close second for average days of rainfall at 12.5 days compared to July’s 13.1 days.

With stats like that, you really can’t count on having a rain-free event, especially if you have been planning it for a few weeks or even months. During this time of the year, even a light drizzle can ruin an outdoor event.

At Signature Event Rentals, we strongly encourage anyone planning an outdoor event to get in touch with us about tent rentals in Fredericksburg and the D.C. area. Keep reading below about why having a tent is vital for ensuring the event goes off without a hitch!

Plan Ahead And Reserve Your Tent

Even if you don’t want to have a tent at your event if you don’t need one, you should still plan on it just in case. The last thing you want is to wake up to rain clouds on the day of your event and not be able to find a tent rental company who is available to help anywhere in the state.

At Signature Event Rentals, we can’t guarantee we’ll have what you need at the last minute, no matter how badly we want to help. If you want to reserve a back-up canopy tent, give us a call and learn about your options for holding a tent and/or canceling a rental. We’d be happy to walk you through our policies so you can make the best decision about reserving a just-in-case tent.

Don’t Despair If You Need A Tent Rental

We know that some people are completely set on not having a tent, especially for an event like a wedding where the overall aesthetics of the event is very important. However, tents aren’t all bad. You can rent very pretty wedding tents with scalloped edges that add to the atmosphere of an event, rather than detract from it.

You can also rent a tent just in case and have it set up to the side of the main event. This ensures guests have a place to escape from the rain (or sun) if they need to while encouraging them to not linger in the tent. Think of a tent as an added bonus to your event and embrace the idea of having one rather than dread it. Your guests will be just as grateful to escape the hot sun as they will to escape some rain.

Other Options (And Why A Rental Tent Is Still The Best)

We’d be lying if we said a tent rental is the only way to deal with rain at an outdoor event.

In this day and age, you can order hundreds of cheap plastic ponchos online and have them at your door the next day. However, most adults only enjoy wearing plastic ponchos when they’re at Disney World or on the second level of an open-air tour bus. If you’re having a nice event like a wedding where your guests have dressed up in their best clothes, it only makes sense to provide them with a tent to stand under.

There are also companies that specialize in providing umbrellas at the last minute. This is also a possibility, but it’s impossible to stay completely dry underneath an umbrella and your guests will still have to deal with muddy shoes.

Finally, you can cancel the event altogether or move it to an indoor venue. Neither of these options are ideal, especially for an event that you’ve been planning for months. If guests are coming from out of town, they will likely be upset if the event is canceled. If you move the event to an indoor location, you will likely be settling for a venue that you don’t love as well as spending extra money for the speedy accommodations. Unless it’s actually dangerous or miserable to be outside, a tent is the best option to protect your clients from rain.
